
Dr. Sue Hammoud

Dr. Hammoud joined the University of Michigan in 2015 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Genetic. Since then, she has built an innovative and impactful research program within the overarching domain of reproductive biology. By skillfully leveraging single cell and other pioneering technologies, her work has upended our conventional understanding of i) nongenetic inheritance from sperm, ii) male germ cell differentiation, and iii) testis development, regulation, and dysfunction - all research areas with important implications for our basic understanding of human fertility and for treating many forms of infertility. Dr. Hammoud's research has attracted numerous high-profile recognitions, including the NIH Innovator Award, the Virendra B. Mahesh New Investigator Award from the Society for the Study of Reproduction, and Plenary & named Lectureship invitations. She has distinguished herself as a creative scholar and a rising star in her field, with a pioneering and paradigm-shifting research program. Her contributions to date has established her as a leading scientist of her generation.
